Larger Stand-Alone (Off-grid) Solar Power Systems
Often referred to as “off-grid” power systems, these are self-sufficient power systems that provide reliable, useable power to the end-user, without the need to connect to a mains grid electricity supply.
They are common in remote and rural areas, where mains grid electricity either doesn’t exist or is too expensive to get connected.
Power is predominantly provided by renewable energy, such as solar or wind, which is used or stored in deep cycle batteries for later.
A pure sine-wave inverter then provides the 240 volt AC power for the house, and sometimes a generator is integrated to provide backup power for when there is insufficient renewable energy available.
